Meeting Called to Order at: 

Board members in attendance in person: Shanon Taliaferro, Theresa Campbell, Dave Sundberg; on google meet Josh Harden, Alex Chivington, Lonny Whitlow.

Quorum established : 

Announcements: 3 minutes each

1. Approve minutes from 7/15/26

Dave makes a motion to approve meeting minutes from 7/15/26. Theresa seconds. All in favor. Motion passes.

Reports:

1. Staff Updates;
   1. Elena-Office was very busy leading up to Reggae. She suggests that maybe ticketing be available the week of Reggae to answer the repetitive questions. Office now catching up after Reggae.
      1. Caryn Surber hired on to do the bookkeeping. She’s been catching up on all things accounting, Mateel & Rotr.
      2. Asia Deal hired on to do sponsorship for Hall, SAMF, and ROTR. She’ll be working two days a week

Building: 

1. Stairs from the parking lot need repair. They are on the priority list.
2. The new post needs brackets attached.

Finance:

   No report at this time. Caryn is still working on the books for SAMF & ROTR.

• Made it financially to SAMF

Youth : 

• There were a lot of youth volunteers at Rotr

Events and Talent:    

• Oct. 6th Steel Pulse

Membership & Fundraising

• Theresa suggests Friday night market in Arcata as a good opportunity 

Personnel :

• New hire sponsor coordinator John Ireland quit. Asia Deal hired on for the position.
• New hire Caryn Surber taking on the bookkeeper position.

Dining:

• From Ashley; Brannon Thoma, food vendor at Rotr, will be doing 150 Jerk Chicken plates for free at the Steel Pulse show. Because he was not able to pay his booth fee Ashley worked out this deal with him. Anything after 150 plates will be provided by the Mateel. All proceeds will go to Mateel.   
• Dave, Ashley, and Babette will come up with the menu for other items for the Steel Pulse show.

Old Business: 5-10 minutes each

• Board waiting on a proposal from Allegra Studios.
• Renegade nights cancelled.
• Bruce’s chair project; Josh will check on updates.

New Business: 

• Mateel website needs cleaning up on the backend
  • John Burke has offered to help Elena with that.
• Humgrown Music Festival, Riah, reached out to Shanon to borrow a tent or two again for an event in Oct. They will put up a banner from Mateel as a sponsor.
  • Dave Sundberg makes a motion in support of allowing Humgrown Muisc Festival to use a tent or tents again for their event. Josh Harden seconds the motion. All are in favor. Motion passes.

• Add Caryn Surber to Mateel Community First Credit Union bank accounts.
  • Dave Sundberg makes a motion to add Caryn Surber as an additional signer to the Community First Credit Union MCC account ****3597 and to MCC Rotr account ****6445. Theresa Campbell seconds the motion. All in favor. Motion passes.
• Add Caryn Surber to Mateel Community Center Columbia Bank Accounts.
  • Dave Sundberg makes a motion to add Caryn Surber as an additional signer to Columbia Bank MCC account ****0978 and MCC Rotr account ****3464. Theresa Campbell seconds the motion. All are in favor. Motion passes.
• Proposal for discount on a memorial fundraiser JWL Memorial Fund.
  • Dave Sundberg makes a motion to give a discount for the JWL Memorial Fund fundraiser. Josh Harden seconds. All in favor. Motion passes.
