Something new this year is the Generation Green Tent.

Now is the time to green up your life! Not sure how or where to begin? Come visit the green zone called Generation Green, where you will learn about sustainable living and alternative energy. Take advantage of the opportunity to hear from Humboldt locals- their knowledge and experience- and see demonstrations of a variety of items.

Some features of this showcase will include: electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, and even an electric tractor; solar-powered fans; solar water heating; producing your own clean electricity from solar, hydro, and wind energy sources; Garberville’s community farm and its community-supported agriculture program; solar ovens cooking various foods; a display of wild-crafted and preserved foods; and the South Fork High School’s Earth Club. Additionally, guest speaker, Jason Bradford, from Willits, will address the topic of creating local self-reliance. Bradford is a scientist turned community organizer and has been deeply involved in the localization movement within the Willits area. He will be speaking both Saturday and Sunday from 2-3pm.

If you’re wondering what it means to “go green” or you want to find out ways to live a cleaner, more sustainable lifestyle, and especially if you want to see brighter possibilities for the next generation, then come on by the Generation Green Tent.
