42nd Summer Arts & Music Festival

Tickets: 2 day advance tickets $35 ($40 at the gate)  $30 in advance for members at the Mateel office only from 11-4pm Tuesday-Friday

Single day: $25 sold at the gate only

Kids 12 and under are offered free admission

Tickets on sale now at the Mateel office, 59 Rusk Lane in Redway in the building located behind the main hall  11-4pm Tuesday-Friday

Object Heavy,  Suyog Brass Band, Cold Blue Water, Special Guest Family,  Way Out West, Altar Tones, Latin Peppers, That Captain, DJ Dragonfly, Funnicators,  Jammies by 9, Garberville Town Band, Arkaingelle, Lost Coast Marimbas, Zech Gravander,  Paul Turner, Ari Guillette, Mihael Kavanaugh, Mark Goo, plus dance troupes & children’s entertainers on 4 stages  

The Mateel Community Center presents the 42nd annual Summer Arts & Music Festival, June 2-3 2018 at Benbow State Recreation Area in Garberville. The event features over 70 performances on four stages including  regional bands, dance troupes, DJ’s and children’s entertainers, 150 handmade craft, food and non-profit booths, a Kids Zone, Generation Green Dome, & Bellydance Temple. Discounted advance tickets are on sale both online and at the Mateel office at 59 Rusk Lane in Redway.  

The 2018 music lineup includes  8-piece Funk/Soul group Orgone,  daughter of the late South African reggae superstar Lucky Dube – Nkulee Dube, Americana/new Folk/ bluegrass string band Rose’s Pawn Shop and Santa Cruz-based reggae band Soul Majestic. Traveling the furthest for Summer Arts, from India come the Suyog Brass Band performing originals drawn from traditional melodies on horns and percussion. Sought after festival electronic dance selector DJ Dragonfly will mix transglobal tempos.  Slated to appear are Humboldt’s

Cold Blue Water  a Blues, Rock, Jazz, and Jam Band and Latin Dance Band – Latin Peppers  along with many more  from our regional talent scene including the Garberville Town Band.

In addition to music offerings, the Summer Arts and Music festival features more than 150 handmade craft, food, and non-profit vendor booths, a Kid Zone with arts & crafts, and children’s entertainment, plus dance and interactive light and sound experiences in the Belly Dance Temple and Generation Green Dome. All of these festival offerings are set against the backdrop of the ancient redwoods at Benbow State Recreation Area along the majestic Eel River.    

Volunteers are encouraged to be a part of the fun at the Summer Arts and Music Festival 2018. This 42nd edition of the event voted “the best music festival in Humboldt”  (North Coast Journal 2015 & 2016 )  is a fundraiser for non-profit Mateel Community Center. Discounted two-day advance tickets are available now for $35. Advance pricing is available online and at the Mateel Community Center office for 2 day passes, single day tickets are available at the gate only. The event hours are 10am-10pm June 2nd & 3rd.
